The only traditional part of the ceremony was the fateful question: Did anyone object to this union? A man rose, asking if either of them had properly won the right to union, and drew a sword. He then rushed the stage. Fortunately, the Altar held a sword, and Cass and Rami juggled the sword between them to defend their union, with Rami winning by using her hair sticks.

Rings and Swords

Cass's brother Greg and his wife Jen, above left, conducted a ring ceremony by passing a white ribbon through the audience. Cass & Rami then threaded their rings onto the ribbon, so the rings could be touched and blessed by all who held the ribbon.
