The Altar

The Altar, the symbolic center of the ceremony, contained objects of personal importance, including pictures of those present only in spirit. The rubber chicken represented a sense of humor.

Vanessa (left) and Lisa offered the opening prayer. Lisa performed a ritual smudging, wafting smoke from an abalone shell with an eagle's feather.
